Chapter 259: The Consequence Of An Action
Chapter 259: The Consequence Of An Action
Rachel knew that she had to call it a night, she didn’t understand what was going on with Jason but she knew she had to have a conversation with him.
He might have tried to force himself on her but she noticed that he was on edge and she associated it with the raid that had just concluded.
She didn’t know what he saw or what happened to him but there had to be an explanation to what had happened.
She decided to visit him that night, Rachel walked to the door and noticed it was already open, this was strange considering that Jason would never do something like this.
She opened the door carefully, aware that Jason might be in trouble.
"... Jason?" Rachel called out in a whispered tone but there was no response, all she was met with was silence.
She knew she had to be careful and didn’t think to turn on the lights because she knew her way around the area considering that she lived here.
She searched the house and found out that it was empty, there was no reason for Jason to be out this late.
She hoped that he was alright because she knew she would blame herself if anything happened to him.
Rachel didn’t know if she was to wait for him inside the house or search for him outside.
But even if she went outside, she didn’t have any idea where to look so the best course of action would be to stay inside.
She turned on the lights and sat on the couch but her eyes caught something, it was a piece of paper lying on the ground.
"Hmm..." She thought; she didn’t want to get up but her curiosity got the best of her.
She got up and got the paper hanging on the floor, she saw the piece of paper with the address that Allison had written down.
Rachel didn’t need to be a detective to know that this piece of paper had everything to do with where Jason might be but this gave her a lead as to where to search.
But would she act on this lead or not?
-
Jason looked at Allison’s corpse, and even when reality dawned on him, he wasn’t bothered.
He didn’t care about her plans for Mariam but the fact that she had a hand in the initial attack that sent Lillian to the hospital alongside her attempt to burn down the hospital knowing that Lillian was inside didn’t sit well with him.
She was beyond saving because what would have happened if they died?
Jason knew that he couldn’t lose them and he now realized that he had to be willing to take lives for that to happen.
He believed people deserve a second chance but nobody said anything about a third.
One could argue it was the fragment’s influence or Jason was getting sick and tired of people taking advantage of his kindness.
He was a good person but that didn’t mean he was a fool, he had the power that these people didn’t yet they thought it rose to mess with him like they were superior.
He was going to put an end to all of that, he was glad that Allison didn’t bring anyone with her but he had to find a way to get rid of the body.
Jason stared at her and thought about letting her turn but this would stir trouble.
But if he could get the body outside the wall or close enough to it, then they would assume she was bitten by a zombie.
Or he could dismember her body and get rid of it altogether but this process was not only time-consuming but he didn’t have the necessary tools to do it.
Wait a minute, the sword. Jason remembered that he carried the sword on him at all times.
And after using it, there was no way that it wouldn’t be able to cut through her with ease.
She was a petite lady so it should be easy and while people might find it strange she disappeared, they wouldn’t be able to link it to murder without finding the body or having some sort of clue of what was happening.
Jason was going to use this to his advantage as he planned to also tell Mariam what it was the Specters were planning.
This would drive the narrative that Allison knew he was going to tell Mariam and fled.
Jason knew Allison had people under her that served her, he couldn’t make the knowledge public that he killed her.
It would be a lot easier to chop her up into little pieces but this was partly due to her size.
However, if he did that now, he had no way to bag the pieces to take away.
Anything planned had to wait because he could hear footsteps outside, Jason knew that whoever that person was, was just passing by.
Silence was his best friend at this moment but Jason had forgotten an important aspect in terms of dealing with the dead.
It didn’t matter how dead they were, it didn’t matter if there was a gaping hole in their chest, none of it mattered as long as the brain was alive.
The zombie opened its mouth and growled, Jason quickly ran his sword through Alisson’s head and in doing so, made additional noise.
The footsteps outside stopped momentarily before continuing, Jason heard whoever it was walking away prompting him to heave a sigh of relief.
This was a close call and Jason knew he had to get out of there as soon as possible
He slung Allison over his shoulder, he had established that there were people still outside so he had to be extra careful or he risked being caught.
Jason knew it was in his best interest to wait for a few more minutes, he couldn’t allow it to get too late or the chances of being spotted by security were high.
Jason opened the door and nothing could prepare him for what he had seen.
"Rachel?" Jason blurted out, he saw how terrified she looked and before he could explain.
"Hey! You two, what are you doing over there?" A voice inquired in the distance.
Jason now found himself in a pickle but how was he going to get himself out of this situation?
This was the worst-case scenario and if one didn’t know any better, they would say the universe was against Jason because, now, his fate danced at the tip of his fingers.
One wrong move and it would be game over.
