Chapter 358 - 351: What Kind of Thing Is the Woman They Value

Chapter 358 - 351: What Kind of Thing Is the Woman They Value

Autumn Shelby had just seen two vaguely familiar figures flash past when Jenna Quinn suddenly pulled her down.

Autumn didn’t have time to think and asked in confusion, "Jenna, what’s wrong?"

Only when she saw Clara Grant walk past, calling out for Miss Shaw, did Jenna Quinn let out a breath and toss the drink menu onto the table.

"Oh, it’s nothing. Autumn, I—I just remembered I have something to do. I’m going to head out first. You can... do whatever."

With that, she stood up, grabbed her things, and made to leave.

Autumn quickly stood up as well, saying anxiously, "But, Jenna, I haven’t even..."

She was still speaking, but Jenna had already brushed past her shoulder and hurried toward the door.

Autumn turned, but it was too late to call after her. She could only watch as Jenna quickly vanished through the doorway.

She turned back around and, in a fit of pique, shoved the cup in front of her. It slid forward, and a bit of the milk inside sloshed out onto the tabletop.

She glared fuming out the window. ’I invited Jenna out today, but I didn’t manage to get closer to her, and I didn’t even get to say what I needed to say. All I did was listen to a bunch of her passive-aggressive comments, and now the meeting’s over just like that?’

As Autumn stared out the window, her gaze drifted back toward the direction where the two familiar figures had gone. She mulled it over for a moment. ’Wait, one of them looked an awful lot like Clara Grant, didn’t she?’

’And the other one looked just like my half-sister, Sarah Shelby!’

’Yes, the resemblance was uncanny!’

She had just seen Clara Grant, so she naturally had a vivid memory of the woman who stole her man. And as for Sarah Shelby... though she hadn’t seen her in over a year and they had never met often, she had an equally vivid memory of the daughter of the woman who stole her father!

Autumn’s brow furrowed. ’Were they looking for Jenna? But why would Jenna hide from them?’

’Didn’t she just say she was quite fond of Clara Grant? If she likes her that much, she should have been happy to say hello when she ran into her at the mall.’

’Could it be because Jenna thought it would be awkward for Clara to see her meeting with me?’

’Has Clara become that important to the Quinn family? So important that Jenna is terrified of being caught just meeting with me?’

Autumn felt a surge of rage well up inside her. Her hands clenched together so tightly that the veins bulged, a testament to the depth of her hatred.

’A despicable woman like Clara Grant is worthy of so much of the Quinn Family’s attention?’

’Hah. But just wait until they find out about Clara Grant’s sordid background. Then they’ll see what kind of trash the woman they value so highly really is!’

...

Jenna Quinn rushed out of the mall, only letting out a sigh of relief once she was inside her car.

’I can’t believe I ran into Clara here, and she saw me.’

’If I hadn’t been so quick, she would have caught me.’

Jenna patted her chest to calm herself, then picked up her phone and dialed Seth Quinn’s number.

But the call had barely connected before it was immediately hung up on her.

Her eyes widened. ’Hey! That brat Seth actually hung up on me!’

After a moment’s thought, she called again.

Seth Quinn’s meeting wasn’t over yet, and Clara Grant still hadn’t called. When he saw his phone screen light up, he instinctively assumed it was her.

Upon seeing it was Jenna Quinn’s name, he simply hung up. ’The meeting’s almost over,’ he thought. ’I’ll just call her back when it’s done.’

River Sterling, who was sitting beside him, saw that he not only didn’t answer but hung up without the slightest hesitation. ’That definitely wasn’t a call from Clara,’ he thought.
