Chapter 232 - 229: What Exactly Does Seth Quinn Think of Her?

Cedric Grant scanned the room, confirming that Seth Quinn really wasn’t there before turning his attention back to Clara Grant.

Hearing what Chloe Grant had just said, he immediately put on a stern face and scolded her. "Chloe, didn’t I just tell you to be nicer to your sister? What’s wrong with you? Why are you being so thoughtless?"

After scolding Chloe Grant, he turned back to Clara Grant with a smile. "Clara, we came to see Seth about something. Since he’s not here, do you know where he went?"

"I don’t know where he went. You should look for him somewhere else."

Cedric Grant thought for a moment and decided to tell Clara Grant why they were looking for Seth Quinn anyway. Since she was able to be in the house without Seth there, she might just have the power to make him change his mind.

"Clara, look, your sister is young and immature. We’re not sure how she managed to offend Seth, but now he wants to completely blacklist her. If he really goes through with it, her career in show business will be over.

"Do you think you could put in a good word for Chloe with Seth? Ask him to let her off the hook this one time? All Chloe did was accidentally snap an intimate photo of him with some woman and guess that she might be his girlfriend, and he just flew into a rage.

"Not only does he want to blacklist her, he’s also threatening to sue her for slander. It’s not really Chloe’s fault, when you think about it. What Seth is doing is going a little too far. He may be rich and powerful, but he can’t just restrict people’s freedom of speech like this, can he? Besides, Chloe didn’t even say that much, right?"

At first, Clara Grant was simply watching the display of deep father-daughter affection, but as she listened, she grew rather surprised.

What surprised her wasn’t Chloe Grant’s fabrication, twisting the photos she’d "accidentally" taken of her and Seth Quinn into a slanderous story about her being some rich man’s mistress. Nor was it the fact that Chloe had actually taken those photos to Seth, because she had already figured that much out.

It was that Seth Quinn, simply because Chloe Grant had slandered her and tarnished her reputation, was going to sue her and have her completely blacklisted!

’I did think that if Chloe took those photos to Seth, he wouldn’t be pleased,’ she mused. ’But I thought at most, he’d just embarrass her a little to knock her down a peg.’

’I never expected him to handle it like this.’

Clara Grant suddenly thought back to the slanderous article that had appeared on the school forums. Afterward, everyone involved had been dealt with severely overnight. Some were sent to jail, others expelled.

Even the department head and vice principal who had pressured her into withdrawing from school were punished—one was fired, the other demoted.

’Back then, I thought it was Miles Quinn who had secretly pulled the strings. But looking at it now, it must have been Seth’s doing, right?’

A complex mix of emotions suddenly welled up in Clara Grant. ’I always thought that in Seth’s eyes, I was just a tool for his physical release. Or, to put it more nicely, a wife in name but not in affection. I never thought he would do anything so drastic for my sake.’

’But now... it seems that’s not the case at all.’

’What exactly am I to Seth, then?’

Seeing her silence, Cedric Grant assumed she was considering his request. He felt a flicker of hope and added, "So, Clara, for the sake of us all being one family, please help your sister."

Cedric Grant’s words broke Clara Grant out of her thoughts. She looked up, stared at him for a long moment, and then suddenly laughed. "Mr. Grant, who exactly are you calling family? You and my mother divorced a long time ago. Right now, you, that homewrecking vixen of yours, and this precious daughter here—*that’s* what you call a family, isn’t it?"
