Chapter 582: The Hidden Appearance
Chapter 582: The Hidden Appearance
"Uh, who’s Chang Chun?" Lin Kuang asked, somewhat curious. He didn’t recognize the name.
"That’s my dad!" Chang Yu declared, his face filled with admiration, as if his father were some incredible figure. "He’s the boss of Hangcheng’s underworld!"
"Oh, you scared me for a second. I thought he was someone important, but he’s just a small-time thug," Lin Kuang said with a grin, not caring in the slightest about this so-called Chang Chun.
Seeing Lin Kuang’s smile and watching him continue to walk toward him, Chang Yu was stunned. Was his dad’s reputation useless now?
"Hey, stop right there! If you dare touch me, you’re a dead man!" Chang Yu shouted angrily as he backed away.
"Is that so? Then I suppose I’m doomed," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
At that moment, Lin Kuang reached Chang Yu and kicked out. The blow landed squarely on Chang Yu’s rear, sending him flying into West Lake.
SPLASH!
"Ouch! Help! Ugh, help me!" Chang Yu howled in the water, his voice filled with terror. He was a complete landlubber who couldn’t swim a single stroke.
Watching Chang Yu struggle in West Lake, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but smile faintly. "Wan’er, shall we get on the boat?"
"Sure, let’s go," Mu Wan replied with a smile, and the two of them boarded.
The boat wasn’t very large, but it was spacious enough for a dozen people, so it was quite comfortable for just Lin Kuang and Mu Wan. They ordered some dishes and enjoyed the night view of West Lake as they ate. It was a wonderful feeling; at least, Lin Kuang really liked this kind of poetic and picturesque atmosphere.
After they finished eating and enjoying the view, they had the boatman row them back to shore. Having paid, Lin Kuang and Mu Wan stepped back onto the land.
"Should we head back now?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, pulling Mu Wan into his embrace.
"Mhm, let’s go," Mu Wan replied with a smile.
Lin Kuang nodded. He wrapped his arm around Mu Wan, and they returned to the car and drove away.
"What did you think? The atmosphere here is nice, isn’t it?" Mu Wan asked with a smile, glancing at Lin Kuang.
"It is. The scenery is beautiful and so peaceful. It’s wonderful," Lin Kuang praised with a smile.
"Of course it is. This is West Lake, after all," Mu Wan said proudly.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded in agreement.
As Lin Kuang drove, his eyelid suddenly twitched. A man was standing in the road in front of his car. The man looked to be in his thirties, his sharp eyes fixed on Lin Kuang.
Lin Kuang slammed on the brakes, and the speeding car screeched to a halt.
"Wan’er, wait for me here," Lin Kuang said, then stepped out of the car.
"Are you Wraith?" Lin Kuang asked the man, frowning.
"That’s right. The King of the Underworld still has quite a presence," Wraith said in fluent Mandarin, though he was actually from America.
"Are you here for the bounty from the six elders of Dark Blood?" Lin Kuang asked calmly, looking at his opponent.
"Yes and no. The main reason I’m here is for the King of the Underworld," Wraith said with a smile.
His meaning was clear. He had come for two reasons: one was for the money, and the other was for Lin Kuang’s fame. If he could kill Lin Kuang, his own name, Wraith, would surely dominate the Assassin World.
"Oh, I see. It looks like a fight is unavoidable today," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he watched Wraith.
"Indeed. This battle is inevitable," Wraith stated.
"Alright, then. Let’s fight. Right here?" Lin Kuang asked with a grin.
"No. There are some ruins not far from here. We’ll fight there!" Wraith replied.
"Alright. Wait for me a moment," Lin Kuang said, turning back to the car.
"Wan’er, you should go on ahead. I have something to take care of. Wait for me at home," Lin Kuang said to Mu Wan with a smile.
"Shouldn’t I stay and keep you company?" Mu Wan asked with a frown, her voice tinged with worry.
"It’s fine. You go on back. I can handle this myself. Trust me," Lin Kuang assured her with a smile.
At his words, Mu Wan nodded. "Okay, then. Be careful. I’ll be at home waiting for you."
Mu Wan knew that she couldn’t get involved in a battle at Lin Kuang’s level. It was better to go home and wait for him than to stay and be a hindrance.
"Right. You should go," Lin Kuang said again with a smile.
"Okay. You be careful," Mu Wan urged one last time before smiling and leaving.
"Wraith, we can go now," Lin Kuang said calmly, glancing at the assassin.
"Good. I’ll lead the way." With that, Wraith’s figure shot forward, and he leaped right off the road. Lin Kuang naturally followed close behind.
In an instant, both of them were in the dense forest beside the road.
Wraith’s speed was incredible. He darted through the woods like a ghost, moving at his absolute limit. He was doing this intentionally, wanting to test Lin Kuang’s speed.
Lin Kuang naturally saw through Wraith’s plan and couldn’t help but smirk. When it came to speed, Wraith was really no match for him.
With that thought, Lin Kuang executed the Bagua Willow Catkin Step Technique. He suddenly accelerated, his speed becoming so fast that he vanished in the blink of an eye. That was how fast he was!
Wraith, leading the way, assumed he had already left Lin Kuang far behind and felt a flicker of disappointment. However, just then, he glanced back and saw Lin Kuang hurtling forward at an incredible speed, looking as if he was about to overtake him.
Seeing this, Wraith’s expression changed slightly, and his appraisal of Lin Kuang rose another notch. He no longer held back, pushing his own speed to its absolute limit and widening the gap between them once more.
Watching Wraith put on another burst of speed, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but smile faintly. Heh, you punk. Still trying to race me? You’ve got a long way to go!
Thinking this, Lin Kuang pushed off with his feet. His speed doubled, and he shot forward in an instant. In just a few breaths, Lin Kuang easily appeared at Wraith’s side. They ran shoulder-to-shoulder, and Wraith found it impossible to shake him.
Seeing this, Wraith’s face turned even uglier. He had never expected Lin Kuang to be this fast. Moreover, it was obvious from Lin Kuang’s relaxed expression that he wasn’t even using his full strength. The ability to match his pace so effortlessly was something no ordinary expert could achieve.
Realizing this, Wraith felt a wave of relief. Thankfully, he had come prepared. If he had tried to fight Lin Kuang one-on-one, he might have been severely wounded, or even killed.
King of the Underworld, no matter how powerful you are, you’re no match for all of us combined. Today is the day you die! Wraith thought to himself.
Just then, as Lin Kuang was sprinting, his expression shifted subtly, and an almost imperceptible, cold smile touched his lips.
