Chapter 137: Sam Wakes Up
Chapter 137: Sam Wakes Up
Sam didn’t stay long unconscious, it was like his body subconsciously knew it was in danger and forced him awake.
Sam’s head was banging, it felt like his brain was trying to rip open his skull but Sam knew this wasn’t where he passed out.
He heard gunfire so it was clear that these people had saved him but who were they?
Sam had an unnatural high pain tolerance and he closed his eyes to pretend to be asleep.
He didn’t want to arouse any suspicion not until he could discern his next course of action.
He was alone in the room but he couldn’t move, he was bound to a table that looked like a tool one would use in a torture chamber.
The door soon creaked open and footsteps slowly approached him.
Sam didn’t do anything that would alert them that he was awake and the footsteps got closer.
Then silence, whoever this was, was staring at Sam but Sam was still.
He didn’t move an inch, this might sound easy but it was a hard skill to master.
"How come only you survived..." A wimpy voice said; Sam didn’t know what this was.
"I don’t know how but you will wish you were dead shortly..." The man threatened and the moment he did, Sam’s eyes shot open.
The binds that were restraining him were undone, this was a piece of cake for Sam as they were taught to free themselves from constraints in the military but this came at a cost.
Sam had dislocated his shoulder but he didn’t even flinch when he did so and he just laid there, waiting for an opening.
"Well, thanks for the warning," Sam muttered and the moment he did, the man tried to scream but Sam jammed his fist right into his mouth, breaking his teeth in the process and knocking the man out.
Sam was so fast that he could barely react even though he was on the verge of death a day before but this was simply because of the drugs that they had administered to him to minimize the pain.
Sam looked around and saw a scalpel, then looked at the knocked-out person.
He grinned as a sinister idea snuck up on him.
A few minutes had passed and someone else came to the room to check why it was taking so long for the individual that had walked in to check on Sam.
"Yo, why the hell are you taking so long? All you had to do wa-!" He couldn’t complete his sentence because he saw why the person hadn’t returned.
He was unconscious and gagged, stripped naked but this wasn’t the most disturbing thing.
His eyelids were cut off with his tongue sliced into half but he could also swear that something was done to his ears because blood was visible there.
"What the fuck..." The man thought the moment he saw the message inscribed on his chest.
"Hear no evil, speak no evil, and see evil? Damn, I forget the saying but you get it ^-^"
This was the message written on his chest and this man immediately knew that they had brought a threat within their midst.
He looked at the table and realized that Sam was nowhere to be seen, he took out his pistol and quietly walked forward.
"Hey, it’s not too late to surrender. No one else has to know, we can fix this," The man said.
"Oh, is that so?" A voice said behind him, the man tried to turn to gain the upper hand but the moment he did, Sam disarmed him before grabbing him by the neck and slamming him against the wall.
The man tried to speak but Sam was squeezing the life out of him with a smile on his face.
"W-What is this strength!?" The man thought to himself, Sam was injured and he was still able to muster this much strength.
"That is enough..." A voice warned Sam and Sam heard the sound of guns cocking.
He looked over his shoulder and saw that there were three people there, two had a gun and one didn’t. And the one that didn’t stand with authority. He was the one who uttered those words.
"You sure I can’t kill this one? Pretty please?" Sam pleaded and the other two people that were holding their guns didn’t even know how to react to this.
They hadn’t seen what he did to the first person due to how they were positioned.
"We aren’t your enemies," The man said, instructing the other two to lower their weapons.
"You’re clearly a capable man and I’m sure we can benefit each other but you have to let him go," The man reiterated.
Sam looked at them before looking at the man who was on the verge of losing consciousness.
"Fine," Sam muttered before letting him go, the man dropped to the ground, breathing heavily as oxygen filled his lungs.
He was relieved that Sam didn’t kill him but he had to warn them of the danger that Sam posed.
If they saw what he did to the other person, they would change their mind.
He had to warn them but words wouldn’t come out, he could barely breathe as of now talkless of speaking.
"We don’t know who you are but we need information..." The man asked but Sam’s brows furrowed because what information could he have that these people could want?
"Information?" Sam asked, showing his confusion.
His eyes looked down at the man who was trying to catch his breath and a blood-curdling smirk appeared on his face.
"I will give you all the information you need if you let me kill him," Sam said and the man’s heart dropped.
This was a strange wager that the man in front of him momentarily considered and thus gave Sam the answer he sought.
This information was greater than the life of this person and the man nodded to allow Sam to do what he had requested.
"Wait! H-!" He couldn’t complete his words before having his brains blown out.
Sam had killed him before he could even speak, this was an irrelevant action.
The man didn’t know he was armed and before the other two guards could even raise their guns.
Sam shot off their fingers with precise accuracy, this forced them to drop their weapons.
The man in charge gulped, he couldn’t have anticipated this because Sam shouldn’t even be fighting.
"Tell me what it is that you’re looking for. And tell me all you know about that thing..." Sam questioned, he didn’t know what was going on but something told him that the man they were looking for had a hand to do with this, this would also explain why they came to the base in the first place.

Franklin had managed to convince the enemy, Clementine was surprised by how well he weaved his words.
It was a far cry from her earlier taunt because Franklin had used this to his advantage.
Franklin altered the truth in such a way that it wasn’t even a lie but this was one of his strengths.
Franklin knew lying wasn’t in their best interest and there was no need.
Jason’s eyes were different, they looked dimmer and Clementine noticed this.
It was like the world was sucking the light out of him and she didn’t know what was going through his mind.
"Are you okay?" Clementine whispered.
"Heh! Of course, I am!" Jason responded hastily, the uneven tone in his voice told her that this was a lie.
He just killed a man, there was no way he could be fine, this wasn’t the Jason that she knew.
"You have convinced me, Franklin. We’re the resistance and we wish to reclaim this world from the undead..." The man said; Franklin noticed his mask had a distinctive letter, "A"
The rest of them had similar things on their mask ranging from alphabets to numbers.
"Follow me," A said and Franklin heaved a sigh of relief but this was unfamiliar territory.
Franklin knew that they were still some distance away from their target but there was something going on here that he knew would prove important to whatever it was that was ahead.
But what was worrying was that Franklin was slowly beginning to understand that Jason and Clementine weren’t who they said they were but what he planned to do with this information was entirely unknown.
Clementine looked over her shoulder and noticed that they were surrounded, these people were well hidden but if they had these numbers, what were they so afraid of?
"Clementine..." Jason whispered and Clementine didn’t move an inch but Jason knew he had her attention.
"Can you hear that?" Jason asked her and Clementine was puzzled.
She didn’t know what Jason was talking about so she paid attention to her environment but she still couldn’t hear anything.
"I can’t hear anything, Jason..." She responded
"That’s weird... It is loud," Jason said but that’s when she snuck a peek at Jason only to see that he had blood coming out from his nose.
That was when Jason collapsed, his body hitting the ground.
"JASON!"
