Lighting Lanterns in the Mountains and Seas

Chapter 953 - 809: Decisive Action (2)

Chapter 953 - 809: Decisive Action (2)

The Niu Qian in the mirror image was so anxious he kept stomping his feet, and only then did Feng Yin react, cursing furiously, "Bitch!"

He'd kindly warned the other side that there might be a trick, yet the other treated him like a fool and played him; this was beyond tolerable.

He immediately swooped down and, at the same time, swung out the Sky Splitting Sword in a furious slash. Just now he'd felt the Sky Splitting Sword cost too much to use lightly, but now he once again tore open a spatial rift across the sea's surface.

He tore the sea, and he tore the earth—but what use was it.

In the end, Feng Yin hovered above the raging waves, sword in hand, looking around in all directions, his face full of anger that simply couldn't be vented.

The commotion on the sea was just too great, the churning water far too turbid, and with firelight flickering everywhere, even a ghost couldn't tell which direction Luo Que had fled. He could only keep cursing that bitch over and over.

In his heart he hated even more that he'd previously run with the wolves. He'd clearly had a chance to take care of that bitch earlier, yet he'd missed the best opportunity. He didn't know what the hell he'd been thinking. Would he look like an idiot in the Heavenly Mirror's image?

If the final result of the Battle of Great Pardon turned unfavorable, with him having made such a fool of himself, he had no idea how he was supposed to explain himself once he returned to the Phoenix Clan.

In the Nanshan Team's central command, Ming Chaofeng, staring at the mirror image, already couldn't help laughing until he was doubled over. Only after he finally calmed himself did he clap and praise loudly, "Worthy of being a Disciple of the number-one Great Sect—truly sharp as a whip and gutsy as hell!"

That last line came especially from the heart. Repeatedly risking his life under the Sky Splitting Sword's attacks was no child's play.

Niu Qian, staring at the mirror image, had gone dark in the face. Looking at Feng Yin in the image barking uselessly, he wanted nothing more than to rush in and slap him a few times. Holding the Sky Splitting Sword and still being toyed with right under his eyelids—he really had no idea what those supposedly high-and-mighty Divine Clan types were usually so smug about.

He was about to be pissed to death; after investing such heavy support, this was the payoff he got.

In the East Victory Team's central command, Wei Mo frowned as he stared at the mirror image.

His trusted aide Tao Zhi said in bewilderment, "He just got taken like that?"

Wei Mo absolutely did not believe Shi Chun would be captured so easily. In a deep voice he said, "With Shi Chun's cunning, there's no way he'd walk into the net himself. Something's off…" He paused mid-sentence, then suddenly startled, saying, "Not good. Mingshan Sect has been breaking the Fan Sleeve Divine Skills one after another; this Fan Sleeve likely can't hold him either. He's very likely deliberately trying to fracture the joint front of the three sides…"

As he spoke, he hastily pulled out the Mother-child Talisman and contacted Ming Chaofeng and Niu Qian one by one, informing them it was a setup, telling them not to fall for Shi Chun's trick. As long as the three sides didn't break ranks and didn't attack each other, and jointly kept the rest of Mingshan Sect trapped and locked down, Shi Chun wouldn't be able to escape.

Niu Qian was easy to persuade; getting the already-profiting Ming Chaofeng to agree took quite a bit more talking.

Fortunately, aside from spelling out the pros and cons, Wei Mo didn't demand much. He only needed Luo Que not to run out of the encirclement and not to give Shi Chun any chance to break through the siege. Given Shi Chun's flight speed, even if he shattered the Fan Sleeve and came out, without a mount's speed and under the encirclement of heavy troops, there was absolutely no way he could get away!

In short, he had Ming Chaofeng urgently contact Luo Que, telling him by all means not to run too far and never to give Shi Chun an opening.

After some consideration, Ming Chaofeng did grow more cautious and felt Wei Mo made sense. Since it didn't cost him anything, he immediately complied.

In the Heavenly Court Team's central command, at the instant Shi Chun was taken, Manxi's eyes widened as he sucked in a cold breath. "This…"

Mulan Jin subconsciously stepped forward, staring fixedly at the mirror image as he said slowly, "He must have a plan. With Luo Que's cultivation, the Fan Sleeve he casts shouldn't cut off the Mother-child Talisman's link. Contact him now and ask."

"Right, right, right." Manxi repeatedly agreed and hurried to find someone to fetch the Mother-child Talisman.

Inside the pitch-black Fan Sleeve, the instant Shi Chun entered, his gaze locked onto a source of light. He flew over at once, and upon making out vague human shapes, cast a spell and called out, "Feng Chi?"

"Who?" Feng Chi's voice answered.

"Master?"

"Sounds like the Master's voice?"

The few of them spoke in suspicion, their guard going up at the same time.

Very soon, they all saw the figure approaching. Once they clearly saw Shi Chun's face, they all cried out in surprise.

"Master."

"Master, how did you end up in here too?"

Shi Chun waved his hand. "Obviously, I came to get you out. You all alright?"

Though that wasn't his main purpose, since he was here, he'd definitely take them along when he left. Putting it a bit heavily wasn't exactly a lie.

Hearing he'd come to save them, Feng Chi grew very excited. Her eyes suddenly shone with a startling brightness. In her view, the other two were traitors; Shi Chun had come specifically to save her.

Chen Wuji and Fang Zicheng were visibly moved; along with that, there was a faintly gloomy look in their eyes.

"We're fine, still alright."

"Don't know if Luo Que has any follow-up tricks."

As they spoke, Shi Chun's expression shifted slightly. He flipped his hand and pulled out the Mother-child Talisman to check; it was a message from Manxi asking how he'd ended up taken by Luo Que's Fan Sleeve and whether he could save himself, that sort of thing.

Shi Chun replied: I'm fine. Have those three forces fallen into infighting because I was taken? Can Wu Jinliang and the others successfully break out?

The moment this message went out, it all but explained why he'd let himself be taken.

After reading the message, Manxi suddenly saw the light, clicking his tongue in amazement over and over. At the same time, he handed it to Mulan Jin to read. "So that's how it is. This bastard is seriously something. In a crisis like that, he actually came up with this move in an instant. The three sides are bound to start slaughtering each other, and on top of that it eases the pressure on the others and helps them break free—truly a plan that kills several birds with one stone. For the Commander to fish him out of the Life Prison, truly keen eyes—he really did find the right man."

Mulan Jin said nothing, face expressionless, yet a hint of impressed surprise still surfaced in his eyes. That kind of lightning-fast, improvised decision in such a rushed moment—its ruthlessness, its decisiveness, its ingenuity, its boldness—truly amazed him.

To him, it was even more impressive in its substance than the last time Shi Chun had pulled Li Hongjiu out of the encirclement. That decision-making power was simply too formidable!

Manxi could be said to be fully cooperating, honestly just doing exactly what Shi Chun said. He immediately ordered the mirror image to switch over to Wu Jinliang's side.

Soon, in the mirror image of roaring firelight, they saw several hundred Demon Riders thrown into complete chaos. Many of them were flailing about like lunatics, their demon cultivator riders completely unable to control them, leaving people baffled as to what had happened.

Meanwhile, Wu Jinliang, clad in battle armor and swinging his blade, was in the midst of the encircling demon horde, charging and killing like a madman all on his own. A layer of berserk phantom shrouded him; even when axes and blades hacked into his body or sharp weapons pierced his heart, he didn't care in the least, barging through like a man with no regard for his own life. He was completely fighting life-for-life, his great blade cutting down one after another. With his mount's rapid darting speed, for a time no one could stop this big guy.

His armored mount was knocked into a roll, yet it actually kept running backward through the air as if nothing had happened.

The Demon Riders had terrifying offensive power; most people avoided them if they could. But Wu Jinliang seemed unable to stand anything bigger than he was, deliberately chasing down those Demon Riders to hack at them. Once he got close, it was blade chops and palm strikes, punches and kicks. Any Demon Rider he got close to ended up with something wrong in their state and, before long, went crazy and bolted away.

It had to be said, Wu Jinliang's hulking frame riding San and swinging his blade was visually far more imposing than Shi Chun. Add in his berserk, life-don't-matter fighting style, and Manxi couldn't help sucking in a breath of cold air. "I heard this big guy likes hanging around brothels—never thought he'd be this fierce!"

Just then, a streak of tunneling light flashed past, like a shooting star slamming into a Demon Rider charging at An Wuzhi. That Demon Rider reared its head and gaped its jaws as if letting out a sky-shaking howl, instantly writhing in agony and rolling and tumbling through the air. The newcomer's lethality toward Demon Riders was clearly even more vicious than Wu Jinliang's.

In the mirror image, after that single strike, the newcomer revealed his form: battle armor black as ink with a red plume atop, the edges of his helmet wild with white hair tousled by the fierce fighting, streaming in the glaring firelight. One hand shone with white light in his palm, his cold eyes wary of all directions as he spoke, seemingly asking whether An Wuzhi was hurt.

The newcomer was none other than Tong Mingshan, who, upon realizing something was wrong here, had come straight over, killing his way in to relieve them.

Right after, they saw his figure blur again as he turned into tunneling light and went after other Demon Riders. One after another of those supposedly ferocious and unstoppable Demon Riders, once struck by him, all went tumbling through the firelight like collapsing boulders rolling down a mountain, never to rise again.
