Chapter 107: COOPERATION 2
Chapter 107: COOPERATION 2
Billie’s fist burst forward, arcs of lightning dancing along the path of her arm toward Lilura.
Before the lightning could even close in on Lilura, black flames flared, swallowing it before it could continue.
Alfred drove his spear forward toward her ribs.
The air over the tip of the spear condensed into a drill, rotating faster as it closed in on Lilura.
She sidestepped, letting the spear brush past her clothes.
Her leg shot forward in the same breath.
Alfred bent.
The air above him detonated in a violent burst of dark flames as the leg passed.
Silas was already in motion, his katana roaring with flames and light as it streaked through the air toward Lilura’s neck.
Lilura’s head whipped backward, the katana slashing the space her head had occupied just moments ago.
Silas did not stop.
The katana came back around in a wide arc, faster, flames trailing behind it like a comet’s tail.
She raised a single finger.
Dark flames erupted from that point, swallowing the katana in a cage of flames before it could advance further.
Silas applied strength.
The cage did not so much as budge.
Billie and Alfred had moved simultaneously.
Alfred’s spear ripped through the air, creating a vacuum as he thrust toward Lilura’s neck.
Billie’s fist launched toward Lilura’s stomach like a rocket, creating arcs of lightning that charred the air as it moved.
The cage of flames around Silas’s katana flickered, only for a moment.
Then it expanded, forming a cage of dark flames around Lilura.
The attacks smashed against the cage, sending a tremor that swept through the entire area.
There was resistance.
But it only lasted a moment before it broke.
That was all Lilura needed.
Her axe swung wide horizontally, dark flames trailing behind the blade as it tore toward the three of them.
Silas stepped back, letting the blade cut through the air in front of him.
Alfred bent beneath the overwhelming flames and blade.
Billie’s arm tore forward, lightning roaring along her gauntlet as she caught the axe.
For a moment, there was silence.
One born from shock.
Even Alfred and Silas looked at her like she was crazy.
Lilura stopped momentarily, her eyes resting on Billie.
Her lips twitched, then it turned to a smile.
An overconfident one.
"I see you have gone fully crazy," Lilura said.
As she said those words, a spear made entirely of dark flames formed in the air above her.
It began to shrink until it was only the size of a stick.
The air groaned.
Sound barriers were shattered.
Then the spear shot toward Billie’s head.
The sound of flesh tearing filled the air.
Bone, blood, and muscle fibers splattered to the ground in a mess of gore.
Alfred yelled in pain as his left hand was devoured by the dark flames.
Billie’s eyes flickered even in her current state.
She looked at Lilura, gaze intense with killing intent.
Without another word, she kicked, driving her leg into Lilura’s chest.
Lilura was sent flying as the attack connected.
Billie did not let her go. She jumped into the air and brought both fists down into Lilura’s head.
Lilura was pummeled into the earth beneath, the floor breaking into rubble.
Lightning danced through the floor from that point, then converged again in a wild detonation that sent Lilura’s head flying through the air.
Silas carried Alfred away at the same time.
He looked at the amputated arm.
The dark flames that lingered across its surface.
A potion appeared in his hand and he passed it to Alfred.
Alfred drank it.
There was no change.
Not even a twitch.
The arm remained the same.
Billie’s body jolted back on instinct as dark flames erupted from the centre she had driven Lilura into.
Lilura looked at her with a calm smile.
"You’re angry," she said lightly.
Billie had already moved, her body blurring into motion.
She punched forward toward Lilura’s ribs.
Lilura stepped to the side, just slightly to avoid the attack.
It was a feint.
Billie’s fist changed trajectory, finding Lilura’s chest.
Lilura’s body folded inward, blood and spit pouring from her mouth as she was lifted slightly above the ground.
"Mark," Billie said almost instantly.
Lilura’s body fell to the floor.
She felt the change in her body, like her core had been locked by an external force.
She looked up slowly.
The only thing that filled her vision was a fist, already inches from her nose.
Boom.
The air detonated, sparks flying through the space as Billie punched through Lilura’s head.
Silence.
Then a heavy breath.
It was long enough that it spread through the entire space.
"You think sealing my aether would stop my regeneration?" Lilura asked as her body reformed from another tide of dark flames.
Billie’s eyes widened, but she did not have the time to display her shock.
Lilura’s leg lashed out, crashing into her head.
Billie was sent flying through the air, her body rolling across the ground before she finally came to a stop.
Silas and Alfred moved in tandem. Alfred, gripping his spear with his only remaining hand, thrust forward.
Lilura sidestepped, right into Silas’s slash.
The blade tore through her neck.
Blood sprayed as the head fell, dyeing the air and earth red.
Lilura reformed from black flames almost instantly, swinging her axe wide at Alfred and Silas simultaneously.
They ducked beneath the axe, the blade slicing through the air above them.
Billie closed the distance in that short gap, her fist detonating the air as she delivered a hook to Lilura’s left cheek.
Lilura’s head whipped to the side, blood flying from her mouth at the same time.
Alfred pressed the attack, thrusting at her thigh from his position.
The spear passed through without resistance, popping out on the other side.
Silas was not to be left behind.
He returned his katana and punched forward into Lilura’s chest.
Light erupted from the point, spreading through Lilura’s body instantly.
Her body flickered as the light swallowed the dark flames within her.
Silas pulled back.
Billie covered for him like a shadow, her fist bursting through the air toward Lilura’s chest.
Her body was lifted from the force.
As she flew upward, three spears formed mid air, red, blue, and green.
They tore downward with a sharp whistle, piercing through her body simultaneously.
Three contradicting elements mixed in Lilura’s body, creating an imbalance that exploded her before she could even rise far into the sky.
Blood and gore began to rain down, covering the trio in red.
But they did not bother to shield themselves. They focused on where Lilura could appear from next.
They waited.
Nothing.
"Did we win?" Billie asked, her body easing slightly.
"No. I was merely waiting for that stupid skill of yours to wear off," the voice came from the sky, almost condescending.
Instinctively, they looked up.
Lilura hovered there, thousands of dark spears pulsing behind her.
Silas blinked.
Like a trigger, the spears descended, breaking through the atmosphere with pure unhindered force.
Silas’s core shuddered as he poured everything out.
A massive dome of golden light began to spread outward, covering them before the spears could reach.
Within seconds, the first spear connected.
The barrier shook.
The floor beneath them quaked, sending ripples through the surroundings.
That only signified the start of the barrage.
Hundreds of spears began to smash into the barrier every second.
Three seconds passed and a crack appeared on the barrier.
After five seconds, the crack began to spread.
Ten seconds of relentless barrage and the dome gave out, unable to hold any longer.
Silas spat out blood as he was knocked unconscious by the backlash of the barrier breaking.
Billie carried him immediately, her body weaving through the spears.
Alfred deflected most of the ones that neared her.
After what felt like an eternity, it finally stopped.
Billie looked up.
Her instincts screamed at her, but it was too late.
Lilura’s fists crashed into her head.
She flew through the air until she fell to the ground, unconscious.
Alfred threw his spear at her, but it met only air.
Lilura appeared in front of him, her palm covering his face whole.
"You can rest now."
Those were the last words Alfred heard before his view flipped upside down and darkness took him.
"Can’t kill them. We need slaves later," she muttered.
She had not completed her words when she felt her knee buckle.
Like a higher authority was commanding her body.
She fell to the ground instantly.
"Woah, you seem too strong. Would we even be able to defeat you?" The person asked, landing in front of Lilura with a calm tap.
"Focus, Damian. This is no time for play."
As he said those words, he looked around at the unconscious bodies.
"I know, Azrael," Damian replied with a sigh.
The floor erupted as another person landed.
"Hope I am not late," Leo said to Azrael as he landed.
Azrael shook his head.
From the floor, Lilura stood up, a crazed smile on her face.
"You think you can do it?" She asked with a sarcastic tone.
"Why don’t we find out?" Damian yelled with a smile as he lunged, halberd pulsing with aether.
