Chapter 328: Decision
Chapter 328: Decision
The physician never would have imagined that Rory could produce so many Divine Beast Fruits at once.
But unfortunately... He lowered his head and shook it slowly.
"Female Master Rory, these medicines are all unimaginably precious... but none of them will work on His Highness. At this point, the only option is for him to survive it through his own strength."
None of them would work?
Rory turned toward Vincent and asked quietly, "With his current condition... how confident are you that he can survive this on his own?"
The physician’s expression darkened further. Ashamed, he lowered his head.
"I... have no confidence. His Highness is already a Rank Eleven powerhouse. The higher his rank becomes, the more dangerous these episodes are."
"This time... I’m afraid..."
He could not bring himself to finish the sentence.
But Rory understood anyway. He was saying that Vincent probably would not survive this time.
There has to be another way. There has to be.
She refused to let Vincent die.
Rory rose to her feet and looked directly at the physician.
"Tell me honestly... Other than forcing Vincent to endure this alone... is there any other method?"
Behind her, Empress Matriarch and Yuel both turned their attention toward the physician as well.
The physician lowered his head uneasily. After several seconds of hesitation, he finally spoke.
"There is another way... But it’s impossible."
"Tell me first. Whether it’s possible or not, we won’t know until we try."
Rory’s voice was firm. Even if there was only the slightest chance, she would never give up.
The physician drew a breath. "Unless His Highness is taken to Divine Beast Mountain... And the Beast God personally intervenes to heal him."
As he spoke, his gaze shifted toward Vincent, lying unconscious on the bed.
"But it’s too late. There isn’t enough time to reach Divine Beast Mountain from here. And when His Highness was young, he was brought there once before. The Beast God refused to heal him."
Rory’s expression tightened.
"Other than Divine Beast Mountain... What other method is there?"
Rory pressed for an answer.
The physician did not respond immediately. Instead, he pursed his lips and glanced toward the Firebird Emperor.
Empress Matriarch let out a weary sigh. "The other method... is even less possible."
Rory frowned anxiously. "What method could possibly be harder than going to Divine Beast Mountain?"
"Rory." Yuel glanced at the visibly conflicted Firebird Emperor before sighing softly himself.
"I think the method the physician is referring to... is a blood transfusion."
After speaking, he turned to the Firebird Clan physician.
"Am I right?"
The physician nodded heavily. "Yes."
Rory was confused. "What’s so difficult about a blood transfusion? With medical technology this advanced, every major hospital has massive blood reserves. A transfusion should be one of the simplest procedures."
Empress Matriarch’s voice carried deep exhaustion.
"A normal transfusion would indeed be simple. But Vincent doesn’t need ordinary blood. He needs human blood."
Her gaze drifted toward the unconscious Vincent lying on the bed.
"The Firebird Clan possesses a racial gift known as Nirvana. If human blood successfully fuses with his own bloodline... he can undergo rebirth and survive."
The moment those words fell, Yuel’s fists clenched tightly at his sides.
If he had known Vincent carried such a condition... Then no matter what happened back then, he never would have allowed Rory to mate with him.
A blood replacement required an enormous amount of blood. This was practically asking for Rory’s life.
The physician spoke carefully. "At present, there is only one human female in the Central District. His Highness is not her mate, so he cannot use her blood unless..."
His voice faltered. He did not dare continue.
Unless Vincent severed his bond with Rory and became mates with that human female, Bree Dekhart.
But even then, there was no guarantee she would agree to save him. A full blood replacement required far too much blood.
"Rory... whether Vincent survives this or not now depends entirely on fate."
Empress Matriarch had never considered asking Bree for help because she knew Vincent would never agree to it.
He would rather die than betray Rory.
"All we can do now... is stay with him."
She reached out and clasped Rory’s hand, her eyes filled with pleading.
"I’ve already heard about what happened with the First Mate position. Vincent was wrong. As his mother, I apologize to you on his behalf. I failed to guide him properly."
"I’m not asking you to forgive him. I only hope... that while he is still your mate, you’ll stay and keep him company."
Perhaps... This was the last time Vincent would ever have with her.
She knew her son well. At a moment like this, the one person Vincent would want beside him most... Was Rory.
"Mother Empress... I was at fault too." Rory looked toward Vincent quietly. "I failed to notice how he was feeling."
Then she turned back toward the Empress.
"I’ll stay with Vincent. And I won’t let anything happen to him. So please... allow me to take him home."
"You want to bring him back with you?"
The Empress looked at her unconscious son with visible reluctance.
After a long moment, she finally nodded. "...Very well. I think Vincent would want that too."
Once a male had found his female master... Even in death, he wished to die by her side.
The Empress did not take Rory’s words seriously when she said Vincent would be fine.
She assumed Rory was merely trying to comfort her.
After all, aside from Divine Beast Mountain and human blood, there was no other way to save Vincent.
"Thank you, Mother Empress."
Once she received permission, Rory immediately had Yuel and Xarion carry Vincent onto the aircraft.
If she intended to perform the blood replacement herself, the Firebird Clan palace was not the right place to do it.
Yuel and Xarion quickly transferred Vincent aboard.
The moment the aircraft lifted into the air, Yuel closed the lounge doors and turned toward Rory.
He struggled to keep his emotions under control as he looked at her.
"Rory... Have you made your decision?"
Rory nodded almost immediately. "Yes."
Standing nearby, Xarion looked completely bewildered.
Decision? What decision had his female master made?
