Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever

Chapter 283: Infighting Begins Within the Huxley Family

Chapter 283: Infighting Begins Within the Huxley Family

"What news did you say? Are you sure it’s true?" Tina Huxley stood up, patting the dining table, and questioned the person on the phone.

Sitting across and dining, Mrs. Huxley heard the commotion and looked up at her, her already furrowed brows full of worries.

When Tina finished the call, Mrs. Huxley couldn’t help but probe, "What’s going on now?"

A strange light flashed across Tina’s face, "This time it’s good news. The deals Justin Huxley managed to close all are having issues, hahaha, that black sheep gets his comeuppance so quickly!"

Mrs. Huxley, having faced a string of misfortunes recently, was somewhat incredulous about this news, "Is the news true? Justin Huxley is sly and vicious, you need to be careful, lest he’s setting some trap."

"I’ve already arranged for someone to verify it. Today there happens to be an early meeting; I have a few people ready to question him at the meeting. He thinks our family doesn’t really have anyone left in the company. Hmph, he never expected that my father arranged many employees who look like they’re against him but are actually supporting him."

Mrs. Huxley heard this and was slightly relieved, "That’s good then. You must stay calm; this is a good opportunity for us. How about this, later when the company meets, I’ll go with you. I happen to have some shares, and you lack experience, plus those shareholders will give me some face."

Tina thought about it and found her words reasonable, "Okay, let’s eat first, then head back to the company soon. In a bit, the investigation data I asked for should be sent over."

On the way to the company, Tina received a call from Julian Huxley.

Both sides on the phone were being cryptic, each testing how much evidence the other held.

Beside her, Mrs. Huxley listened and occasionally typed suggestions to Tina on her phone.

It was a long call, and just as one more turn would lead them to the company, Tina hung up.

"Julian Huxley must have also heard about the trouble with Justin Huxley’s projects, huh?" Mrs. Huxley concluded confidently, "That’s truly fantastic. In today’s meeting, you stay composed, don’t be the first to openly oppose Justin Huxley. Let him and Julian bite each other, and we’ll watch on the side to see if we can benefit."

"That’s what I plan to do too," Tina’s face was unable to hide her schadenfreude, "How interesting, with such a mess, I wonder how Justin Huxley will explain it to the board."

Justin Huxley spent a month and a half, exerted tremendous effort, finally secured some deals, which all had issues within three days.

It’s hard not to suspect if someone is manipulating from behind the scenes.

He first cast a suspicious gaze at Maxim Sinclair, who is said to be abroad, eager to meet major clients, and desperately trying to restore his image.

But after some investigation by subordinates, no evidence linked these matters to Maxim Sinclair.

For now, this matter appears unrelated to Maxim Sinclair.

Aside from Maxim Sinclair, the most likely ones secretly impeding his success are those wanting power within the Huxley family.

Justin Huxley stood at the window, watching the employees hurriedly passing by outside.

Cameron Young entered from outside, handing him a cup of coffee, "President Huxley, most people are here; you need to host the meeting soon."

"Is Tina Huxley and Julian Huxley here too?" Justin turned to ask her.

"Yes, when I came over just now, I saw them greeting each other. Additionally, Tina’s mother is here too," Cameron said, face showing concern, "Mrs. Huxley rarely comes to the company; her presence today is probably not good news."

"She must have heard about the trouble with the deals I closed, and plans to question me at today’s meeting," Justin scoffed coldly, "Do you think this has anything to do with Tina Huxley? Could it be her doing behind the scenes?"

"Given her brains," Cameron sneered with a smile, "Miss Tina Huxley likely has the will without the capability."

"On her own, she certainly can’t accomplish it, but if she teams up with Julian Huxley, it could be troublesome." Justin felt uneasy, wavered momentarily, "I must prepare early; if they join forces and challenge me at the meeting... I have to handle it well, or it will affect my assessment by the board."

Must absolutely not let them find any flaws!

Varden Villa

The bored Summer Lowell was in the garden playing with a cat when she suddenly heard a familiar laugh. She turned and saw Vivian Sullivan.

Vivian opened her arms and walked over with a smile, "How’s it going, dear, surprised? I’ve come to see you."

Summer greeted her with a smiling face while holding the cat, "Very surprised, why did you come? You didn’t say anything beforehand, so I could come to pick you up."

"Oh please, as if you’d be able to come out," Vivian casually tossed her bag to the nearby lawn, leaned in, intrigued, and took the cat, "Such an adorable cat!"

"It’s just a few months old, a little kitten," Summer laughed and petted the cat’s head, asked Vivian, "What’s got you visiting today? Didn’t you say you were super busy a few days ago?"

"I came to check on you, kind of worried about you!" Vivian cuddled the cat, glanced around at the environment, pulled Summer over to a nearby, slightly distant bench, pressing her to sit down, "I have something to tell you."

"What’s up, what do you want to say? Rarely see you like this, acting all mysterious," Summer was puzzled as she sat down with her, "Just tell me what’s on your mind."

"Justin Huxley, have you been in contact with him lately?" Vivian petted the cat absent-mindedly.

"No, haven’t been in touch for a long time; the last time I talked to him was when you brought him over to pick me up those days," Summer shook her head, daring not to say she was under Maxim Sinclair’s comprehensive surveillance now; even if she wanted to contact him, she can’t, "You’re not here for him, are you?"

"Not exactly," Vivian shook her head to deny, "I want to tell you something else. Justin Huxley snatched several deals from Maxim Sinclair a while ago, and all these deals recently encountered issues one after another."

After speaking, she paused a bit, looked at Summer, and said her guess after a long while, "Did you and Maxim Sinclair plan this in advance?"

"Why would you ask me that?" Summer was dumbfounded, "And why would you think that of me? Am I that smart in your eyes?"

Vivian couldn’t help but laugh, then explained why she thought so, "You know, I have an unusual relationship with Charles Jenson; he said some things in front of me, and today I also received a call from Justin Huxley, so I came to ask your opinion."
